Reduced chlorhexidine susceptibility in multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae; genomic and functional analysis of invasive isolates
Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae has emerged as a major cause of healthcare-associated infections, driven by the global dissemination of high-risk clones. Because chlorhexidine is widely use...

Get oral chlorhexidine and gargle several times a day, and get some sour suckers or something else that increases saliva, since saliva helps fight off viruses. Hope you make it to the event 🤞

Applicator-Based Versus Bulk-Bottle Delivery of the Same Alcoholic Chlorhexidine: A Single-Center, Non-Randomized Pilot Micro-Costing Study of Two Surgical Skin-Antisepsis Workflows
Background/Objectives: Delivery format may change the resources consumed by surgical skin antisepsis even when the antiseptic is unchanged. We compared two workflows using identical 2% chlorhexidine in 70% isopropyl alcohol: a single-use pre-filled applicator and our center’s bulk-bottle protocol. Methods: Single-center, non-randomized pilot micro-costing study (hospital perspective, €2024) of 20 elective abdominal procedures (10 per workflow) performed by non-overlapping surgeon groups. Time was measured stepwise to completion of application, excluding the air-drying interval; waste was weighed. Results: Two bulk-protocol steps, decanting onto a cloth and blotting excess with gauze (39.8 s combined), have no applicator counterpart. Residual alcoholic chlorhexidine was 72.8% lower and total waste 27.9% lower (−42.3 g; 95% CI −62.1 to −22.6). Materials differed by €1.17 per procedure (€3.26 on the same regulatory basis), a difference that reverses if reprocessing is valued below about 78% of its average allocated cost. Aggregate workflow time differed by −29.8 s (95% CI −61.4 to −1.9) and total cost, 85% of it time valued and realizable only if released minutes become usable activity, by −€7.57 (−14.38 to −1.56). Case mix biased both in favor of the applicator: among unilateral hernia repairs (seven vs. four) they fell to −7.3 s (−33.0 to +19.6) and −€2.74 (−8.26 to +3.05), whereas waste differences were unchanged. Operator nesting makes intervals for time, cost and liquid waste likely too narrow. Conclusions: With the same antiseptic, the applicator workflow removes two handling steps and was associated with less wasted antiseptic. Whether it saves time or money requires a study crossing operators over workflows and timing drying.

In other news, hormones are still wrecking things for me, as in, sulphur and chlorhexidine and hydrocolloids worked to calm down surface-level stuff, but I now have a massive cystic acne bump on my chin that's way too deep for any remedy, really. Thank f I'm not due in the office before Tuesday.

That is strange. But I got you, friend.

Different variations/scents probably have different ingredients, but this is what's currently in my bathroom. I believe they also have a "sensitive" version of the wipes

Almost a year prior, I bought a grabber tool in case I had trouble moving (I didn't), a pump douche so I didn't have to use Montréal's insane "don't let go!" maximum hand strength required bulb, gauze, a washable dilation mat for the yuck weeks, scar strips, and three boxes of chlorhexidine sponges.

Chlorhexidine shower. Don't forget to stop any medications they tell you do the appropriate number of days before your surgery (usually any aspirin or other "blood thinners"). And make sure to leave your belongings with family. Much easier.

it lowkey doesn't make sense for me to use this chlorhexidine scrub the night before surgery instead of just the day of because im going to get so freaky sweaty while im sleeping tn but i think if i use half tn and half in the morning it should be fine....

"Kills 99.9% of bacteria." Is a mouth with no bacteria the goal? In one small study, a week of chlorhexidine mouthwash shifted the bacteria in saliva and made it more acidic. The same rinse does cut plaque, across 51 trials. It is a tool for a job, and it doesn't pick which bacteria it removes.

Chlorhexidine wipes or a spray so you can spray a paper towel and wipe out his ears.

These wipes are kind of small but I use them on Anya.

Once a month as preventative routine, more often if I notice her ears getting smelly.

Cat chin acne is not dirt. Stop scrubbing it.

Plastic bowls harbor bacteria in micro-scratches. That bacteria transfers to your cat's chin every meal. Switch to stainless steel or ceramic. Clean gently with chlorhexidine wipes.
