The idea of an algorithm deciding what you see as opposed to a purely reverse chron is counter to essentially every way info was delivered or or the social internet functioned for decades.

i’d be curious to know whether any of the journalists who have taken to bluesky had prior experience in an earlier internet age with forums. for me at least, my acculturation into the social internet was by way of forums and so the lack of an algorithm seems natural to me.

Sometimes the SF Chron will syndicate an NYT story and side-by-side with the very straight ahead, direct-sentences Chron reporting, you realize how terrible a lot of NYT prose is--sentences with lots of adverbs and semicolons that run on for whole paragraphs.
