CICS has been a constant offering from IBM since 1968 and they always add the new and hot things to it so they can keep selling it. I haven't been following it for many years, but this made me think that maybe they've added AI. And of course they have

That's why companies like Micro Focus run COBOL emulators in the cloud these days, because emulating a mainframe, terminal, CICS, JCL and whatnot is easier than migrating COBOL code.

She signed up to make their safety priority one. The CICs number one responsibility is to avoid EVER putting our military in harms way for irrational or irresponsible reasons. The admin and congress is there to make sure a POTUS never does. Violating that is unconscionable 🤬

The EHRC doesn't consider accessibility needs in consultations? There are non profit CICs that are better at supporting people with disabilities than the organisation supposed to fight for their rights.

I find it strangely comforting when something is too janky to be easily connected to an IP network though.
It’s the bit where it can start exchanging packets that really scares me (looking at you, CICS HTTP server that ABENDs on recieving a content heade)

So to just give like the slightest bit of insight.
COBOL as we know it consists of Batch (over time processing), CICS ( interacting with systems in COBOL) and Stored (DB2 driven COBOL interaction).
These are not the hurdle, the hurdle is precision in transition on critical systems w/ abs no error.
