Yesterday, my daughter told me that, when I was talking about my barbecue to someone, my “whole accent came out” and that I sounded like “some sort of southerner with a weird drawl” and that she was “totally feeling secondhand embarrassment” to be associated with me

So the accent is coming back!

Jorn 6 : Jeepers Creepers (Robert Clampett – 1939)

This cartoon also features the exploding piano gag originally introduced by Bob Clampett in the Private Snafu cartoon, "Booby Traps".

Friz Freleng is most famous for this gag as the song is "Those Endearing Little Charms" with the C4 note, being the trap.

Speaking of ToonHeads, remember when it aired on Adult Swim for like a week?

This was when they first got 5 AM and for like a month they filled that hour with classic cartoons like Popeye and the Bob Clampett Show before switching to anime reruns

ToonHeads premiered April 21, 2005 at 5:30am/4:30c and completed its run on April 30, 2005. Only 8 episodes were aired. 16 - "Travelogue Cartoons" - TV-G 17 - "Emily the Chicken" - TV-G 18 - "Baseball...

Pretty much, yeah. Same motions and I think the same animators since Bob Clampett took the helm of Tex Avery's old crew.

@shanareviews.bsky.social Well actually, Bob Clampett predicted Cat-Dog with this scene from Porky in Wackyland (1938).

Happy 80th anniversary to “The Big Snooze” (1946). Bob Clampett, with help from Arthur Davis, directed his final Warner Bros./Bugs Bunny cartoon, “The Big Snooze”.

Bugs gives Elmer a nightmare he’ll never forget after Elmer tears up his contract.

Kennedy was a Democrat with a slight drawl.
Now he’s Republican Jethro Clampett.

Well yeah, this is the guy who made himself out to be a hillbilly who stumbled into privilege and Yale Law the way Jed Clampett stumbled onto Black Gold and Texas Tea.
Just a reminder that these Haitian immigrants in Springfield -- who came here legally, did everything they were asked to do and more -- became a target of federal crackdowns because the white nationalist vice president shamelessly spread racist lies about them.

A vital cultural query: since Wabbit Twouble was started by Tex Avery but finished by Bob Clampett after he left, who gave us Big Chungus?

I'm giving it to Clampett because the Bugs in the shot before & after seems closer to his, where the hammock shot has some of Avery's softer Wild Hare look imo

Oh fuck it, since we're here, let's rewatch them. Bob Clampett put out some truly magical Daffy Duck shorts in the 40s. This is for me the best of the best. I love the animation in Draftee Daffy so much...

Bob Clampett created the initial scenario in 1941, and he was originally named Rover debuting in the short "Porky's Pooch". Mel Blanc gave Charlie Dog a gruff Brooklyn accent like Bugs Bunny giving him a sly and clever disposition. Chuck Jones gave him a transformation.

Back to yesterday, I'm forever surprised by the way I look to myself in the mirror (reverse image) as opposed to how I look to myself in photos.

“The Hep Cat”, directed by Bob Clampett, was released on this day in 1942.

It is the first short in the #LooneyTunes series to be produced in Technicolor following the Merrie Melodies series and it is of Bob Clampett’s best one-shot cartoons.
