I think the most nerve-racking part with these big pieces is making sure there isn't a speck of dust on them anywhere before I clearcoat them 😬

A couple of coats of satin black enamel and it's looking much better. It got chilly this week so I can't clearcoat it just yet (without the clearcoat turning milky) so for right now, it's as done as it's gonna be! :)

Car wash and automotive clearcoat sealant chemical technology has radically progressed the last few years. The level of protection and efficacy afforded even consumer-level stuff like the well-shepherded Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions is lightyears beyond dishsoap and a sponge at the molecular level.

Pew, about 40 minutes in to get them almost perfectly clean.

Here’s a little before and after on the 3D-printed bug eye lenses. Right is after dipping in the clearcoat. Left is the raw print which is quite cloudy.

This coming week is the perfect time to finally assemble this guitar for myself. Swamp ash body I cut and shaped, I opened the grain, dyed it black and filled it with silver grain filler I mixed before nitro clearcoat. #woodworking #guitars

Clearcoat is on its way out on the roof but this is in reasonable nick otherwise, given these tended to be run into the ground as workhorses www.facebook.com/marketplace/...

Put a layer of gloss clearcoat down on KITT and it made a huge difference. Now the black plastic doesn't look cheap & oily.

This isn't even spraypaint. The owner scrubbed too hard and this was under the first layer of clearcoat.

Aaaaaalmost finished with the painting and detailing, should be able to start applying layers of clearcoat tonight. :D Which should make the resin lenses go from "frosted glass" to just "glass" - resin reacts so well to clearcoat.
(May have just bought a box of tiny screws while I was at the store)
