New preprint out! 🌱

Bravo @jiaxuwu.bsky.social ! 🎉

Here we used RenSeq to characterize the repertoire and allelic diversity of NLRs across five canola lines developed for clubroot-resistance breeding 🧬

Let’s make sense of the complex genetics behind clubroot resistance!

RenSeq and whole genome sequencing uncover allelic diversity of clubroot resistance genes in commercial breeding canola lines
Clubroot disease, caused by the obligate biotrophic pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae, is a major threat to canola (Brassica napus) production worldwide. Clubroot–resistant (CR) cultivars remain the m...

🚨Preprint Alert!
Scooped by two other groups due to our lack of infrastructure to grow Arabidopsis, this study started in 2021, is still a great addition to the body of work looking for clubroot resistance in Arabidopsis! 💛

A Clubroot Pathogen PBS3-Like Effector Manipulates Hormonal Crosstalk to Alter Root Morphology in Arabidopsis and Canola | Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions
Plasmodiophora brassicae, the causal agent of clubroot disease, actively manipulates host hormone pathways to promote infection. Previous studies identified PbGH3 as a putative GH3-like effector with ...

Glad to see this out! We discussed the confusion around the ever-growing list of clubroot resistance genes and what truly qualifies as the novel ones. The clubroot community needs a consistent nomenclature to keep track of the real progress. @jiaxuwu.bsky.social , @edelplopez.bsky.social
