I get it, trust me. I washed them out but if I am around them it will come out-you adapt socially sometimes bc I went from CO-MA at 12 then learned that terrible garbage accent & moved to NYC at 20. CODESWITCHING is a thing I do. Nobody can tell when I speak where I am from.

When I do use it, it's usually in line with AAVE codeswitching (disclaimer: grew up in TX with Black kids; I'm not Black). The white kids didn't use y'all, because of the area/class of them/racism.

reality/social acceptance is subjective. in the usa, 2026, we no longer rly follow a social code unless it's curated to eachother. for example i surround myself with alterhumans and interact organically with them in a way that reflects myself. but in facism, masking and codeswitching is necessity..
