@codefloe@social.tchncs.de published stats for Q3 2026, and it now has almost 1500 users and over 4000 repos - 87% and 99% more than Q2! Well done!

I can recommend codefloe.com for private repos. Seems to be run and governed properly by @devxy.bsky.social

Now that #codeberg has manifested their anti-AI view with a 70% in favor vote (https://codeberg.org/Codeberg/org/pulls/1253), we're happy to welcome (once again) all the people which have to/want to move their repositories off Codeberg but still want to stay on a Forgejo-based instance. Bonus: on top you'll get better uptime, faster site responses and faster CI runners - all for free :) tl;dr: after this ToU change, keeping AI-generated code on Codeberg would violate these and repositories will be in danger of deletion. #codeberg #codefloe #giveUpGitHub

@sifa.id hey friends, I'd love to display my forgejo contribution history on my profile, just like the "punchcard" system here codefloe.com/wildbuilt?ta... is that in the realm of possibilities? Happy to contribute code if that's an option. Cheers!

#CodeFloe, a public #Forgejo-based #Github alternative, now has support for file icon sets (with 'devicon' being the default set).

The icon set can be switched on a per-user basis.

Sucks that, with the #github exodus, people's contribution history could be lost. Wish there was a profile federation platform that could help with this 🤔 Like show my Codeberg, GitHub, and CodeFloe contribs in one place.

My reasoning is that Codefloe is courting AI "developers" to join the platform, and I'm against that for ethical reasons. LLM crap is hurting open- and closed-source projects (and jobs!), so while I don't think it's reasonable to expect a platform to block those kinds of contributions altogether...

CodeFloe has been pretty great so far! They have an easy migration flow. But yeah I feel you about the history, it really sucks that Microslop basically owns our years of development and research.

#codefloe now shows a widget for instance-wide changelog posts and other global announcements.

Feel free to provide feedback in the forum (forum.codefloe.com/t/2025-08-13...) on this approach broadcasting changes to the platform!

We've lately added two QOL features to our platform:

1. A repo quick-switch toggle behind the repo slug
2. Auto-wrapping of selected in the comment editor.

All platforms changes can be viewed under the "changelog" tag in our forum: forum.codefloe.com/tag/changelo...

So, if you want to Move Off GitHub, what's your alternatives? As we mentioned, Codeberg is explicitly not one.

1. GitLab
2. Tangled
3. CodeFloe (it's small but it's Forgejo)
4. Self host your own

None of them are co-ops though, unfortunately.
July 23, 2026 at 2:42 PM
I appreciate you being respectful. My stance is that the people who advocate for AI software/code are actively hurting the industry and society at large. It's okay that you think differently, I'm not trying to change your mind. I wish Codefloe all the best.

Does anyone know of a handy place where I could move the git repository (and release packages) for the Thief Enhancement Pack?

Looking to move it away from GitHub, but it's huge (the current files are 3GB), so smaller Git hosting like CodeFloe isn't really suitable here.
March 27, 2026 at 10:21 PM
By the way: Yesterday I found CodeFloe: A public Forgejo (Git server) instance that is open to any projects and users.

Unlike Codeberg, it it not limited to personal or Open Source licensed projects.
