Its a combination of things. usually.
1) The biggest redflag is if they PM/DM/email/Msg you trying to get you to commission them. No legit artist does coldcalls like that.
2) They have art that is inconsistent/ai/clipart/traced/bases as their examples.
3) They have language quirks that i notice
