Detailed Insights India's sports ministry selected Olympic badminton medalist Saina Nehwal and cricket legend Rahul Dravid to guide preparations for the Ahmedabad Games. Their presence ensures that athlete-focused considerations shape competition logistics, venue requirements, and overall event delivery. Private-sector insight comes from Jinal Mehta, managing director of Torrent Power and owner of the Gujarat Titans franchise, and from Ananya Birla. The proposed leadership includes Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi as chairperson, Union Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha as vice chairpersons, and senior Gujarat bureaucrat M. Thennarasan as chief executive officer. Hosting the Games in Ahmedabad represents a return of the event to India after the 2010 Delhi edition. 17 disciplines will be contested. Organizers intend to use the occasion to display India's sporting infrastructure and to promote Ahmedabad as a global venue for major sporting gatherings. Unlike the 2010 Delhi organizing committee, which excluded athlete and corporate voices and faced allegations of financial mismanagement, the 2030 board deliberately blends sporting and business perspectives. This structure aims to deliver transparent administration, athlete-centered policies, and resilient infrastructure planning. Nehwal made history by winning women's singles badminton gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, defeating Malaysia's Wong Mew Choo after dropping the opening game. She was the first Indian woman to claim that title, later adding Olympic bronze in 2012 and another Commonwealth gold in 2018, and she formerly ranked number one worldwide. Dravid, known for captaining and coaching India's cricket team, has advised the GoSports Foundation since 2014, a nonprofit that assists Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
