Have always loved this row of houses in my village of Cononley in North Yorkshire. The outbuildings facing the road are former coal sheds

This year the wisteria is particularly good on some of the houses in my village of Cononley in North Yorkshire. At a time of so much pain and bitterness I thought folk might welcome a bit of light relief in their timeline.

I couldn't sleep so got up to hear the dawn chorus in Cononley. Then followed up with a wander to look for plants.

Until I found a list from the 1950s the parish looked devoid of plants. But the list piqued my interest and I've been refinding things.

This Marsh Valerian was last recorded in 1956!

Happily, I don't think many of you will *need" to read this letter to @yorkshirepost.co.uk
But like the writer, I have had NHS hospital treatment locally.
I simply cannot imagine anyone resenting being helped by someone of different skin colour or faith.
Why?😢

Slaters Arms, Bradley 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 1st visit. Village pub, easy walk from Cononley train station or the Dalesway bus. Exterior unpromising but fairly unspoilt inside with inglenook fireplace, jugs fastened to the beams. Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker and Golden Best on cask. Social focus 🍻👍

#Train to Cononley yesterday then cycled to Farnhill and Kildwick, crossing the North/West #Yorkshire boundary to Steeton where I joined the Leeds and Liverpool #canal and cycled back home to Shipley. Annoyingly, my Garmin battery conked out 1.5 miles from home. A beautiful day though. #bike

One of the best types of politics guys is people who violently defend a fossil they learned about in January because it makes the Bernie Bros mad. "I've always been a big Gerry Cononley supporter". No. There is no way that's true
