Out helping to round up the #beltedgalloway herd on the edge of Ashdown Forest this morning for bTB checks. Stunning docile animals, including Silus the bull, carrying out essential #conservationgrazing of precious habitat. #lowlandheath #sussex

The @wildlifebcn.org Mouflon looking very photogenic at Stonepit Close this week - finding a good vantage point on a heap of limestone. They seem to be becoming bolder, though they kept a very close eye on me as I skirted round them...

The ponies are back and doing what native ponies do to find forage in harsh weather. They live out on the hill all winter🐴 #native #conservationgrazing #molinia #welsh

Sheep grazing our Scottish Wildlife Trust reserve, Fleecefaulds Meadow #Fife. Over winter they tackle the coarse vegetation which would otherwise dominate the meadow flowers including several species of orchid.

These guys were looking content at Brockadale nature reserve, but not much grass left so moved them along the ings to a field that's a bit rank/rough but with more to eat.

This ex-arable limestone meadow is really stunning in late spring.

🐄 Our mini-Dexter cows are back at Ashford Warren for summer conservation grazing! They'll be on the west side in June before moving east in July.

Please give them space, don't feed them, and keep dogs on leads.

❄️ Throwing it back to winter (because who doesn’t love a shaggy Highland cow?)

Our conservation grazing crew were up at Masons Bank over the colder months, helping us manage the land for wildlife. Their winter coats? On point. Their impact? Even better 🐮💚

I'm ready for my close up... 📷

These dashing goats do vital conservation work at our Sevenoaks reserve, browsing woody scrub while leaving wildflowers undisturbed. Their secret weapon? 'Hefting', a loyalty to home turf that keeps them grazing where we need them.

Took this group off the higher hill today. Took the bull away, and let Cows & calves onto upland heath for a week or two, before moving on to lower grassland. Doing a good job grazing out the different parcels #HighNatureValueFarming #ConservationGrazing

Just a belted Galloway cow munching on gorse. How tough must their tongues be not to get prickled? Sound on to hear morning bird song and munching noises. #ConservationGrazing

Danish study exploring complimentary roles of horses & cows for #ConservationGrazing on #Grasslands

"... effects on herbivory and biodiversity are carefully considered before supplementary feeding, or anti-veterinary treatments are provided in year-round grazing systems and avoided if possible."
DNA metabarcoding of dung from rewilded cattle & horses in Denmark reveals dietary differences, suggesting potential for coexistence 🧬🧪

Winter feeding changed diet compositions, which might affect vegetation development in areas where feeding is supplied 🐎🌎

Check out the dorsal line and tiger stripes 😍 With those ‘primitive’ markings he has to be Konik, right?🤔 No. He’s my wonderful Highland pony; representative of just one of Britain’s many native breeds that make equally good conservation grazers #conservationgrazing #ponies
