i think a lot about something the noted communications consultant @hollyanderson.bsky.social said: you have to meet conversations at the level they deserve

if someone behaves contemptibly, over and over, treat them with contempt! doing otherwise smacks of gullibility or performance
El-Sayed: Mike, enjoy retirement. You chose hate. Michigan chose hope. May we never have to see the likes of you in this state again

The only ones who go to prison are the ideologues. The others flee to Russia or plead their way back into the good graces of late stage liberalism. JD Vance will become some sad mid-level consultant and Marco Rubio will snitch on everyone to save his skin.

Big companies can hire immigration lawyers, set up overseas offices and navigate complex regulations.

A freelance designer, musician or consultant often can't.

Freedom of movement helped level the playing field, giving people opportunities otherwise reserved for big businesses.

If you're a high-level campaign consultant who doesn't work with the ground teams in any way, this is true.

If any part of your job description on a campaign even remotely touches field...it's not.
"Election Day is its own special type of hell. If you've never worked on a campaign, you might think it would be the most hectic day of the campaign. In reality, it's the opposite." -- Lis Smith in "Any Given Tuesday"

“Trump has brought a Chernobyl level disaster to the Republican Party tonight,” Mike Murphy, a Republican consultant who advised former Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s primary campaign in 2016, posted on X. “Tonight the Trump Show was finally cancelled.”

If your veins are throbbing have you tried compression? You can get sports compression tights. Or, you can get different levels of compression prescribed by a GP usually with some input from a vascular consultant regarding what level of compression is needed.

Maybe but that assumes a level of canniness that I just don't attribute to Jeffries. I think people like this are just swimming in centrist political consultant speak all the time. They don't know how to meet the moment and they're not interested in stuff that's hard and risky

This article suggests some ways the Democratic Party ought to reorganize, on a local level, to be about more than mobilizing for election days. It would be a start at least, but I don't see any signs of movement in thesse directions.

The US Is a Civic Desert. To Survive, the Democratic Party Needs to Transform Itself.
The party should jettison its consultant class and move toward a local-membership model that would help to rejuvenate civic life across the country.

Uhh no: he funneled HUGE amounts of money into the local party chapters (to the ire of the DC consultant class who wanted it for themselves), thus enabling the MASSIVE gains Democrats made at the legislative level and the huge GOTV efforts.

Stephen Miller: never in his life had a job with actual powers and responsibilities.
Not personnel, not process, not budget. He's always been advisor, contributor, consultant.

He'll grab the mad king's scepter hard, immediately overreach, crime, and then fail.

WHCOS is not entry-level management.

I wonder what AIPAC offered Stevens to do this. Lucrative Fox News or CBS gig? Behind the scenes high paying “senior consultant”? 2030 MI Sen R endorsement? Always follow the money because I’m betting it was promised to change hands because you don’t commit this level of party suicide for nothing.

There will always be consultants on some level, but that’s different from having a consultant class dictating policies. That is newer than people think. The number of political consulting firms increased by 1200% between the 90s and the 00s. It is not foundational to our political system.

They broke the Pantheon from the inside.
The Actor rewrote Tzeentch’s lore until the God of Change was just a mid-level consultant. Nice Guy offered Khorne a cup of latte and a corner office, turning the God of War into a "Director of Conflict Resolution."
The gods didn't die. They got promoted. 3/6
