#contemprary
I'm sure this article has been written, but I think there's something very interesting about contemprary ideas of the deep past being almost uniformly brown and bland when a lot of modern scholarship suggests quite the opposite
I'm still very interested in this film, and I like Nolan's work okay, but look: it would be really nice if movie directors remembered that human civilizations throughout time and space have generally been quite fond of things like "colored fabric"

"gender-critical" is a subset of contemprary fascism and transphobia is one of the key pillars of contemporary fascism. our response needs to be aggressive. thus far we have treated them with kids gloves, but they'll be coming off.

This is Foran with Helen Joyce, who is infamous for declaring that "GCs" must get through to "decision makers" in order to "reduce" the "numbers" of trans people. You are platforming someone who is deeply involved in one of the key movements of contemprary fascism, @ukcla.bsky.social‬.
I've found a better photo of Michael for you to use with this article. It also helps to give insight into his views on the matter.

"There are people who delight in mulligatawny. They love curry at its warmest point. Ginger cannot be too hot in the mouth for them. Such people, we should think, constitute the admirers of Herman Melville."

I never thought #dystopian would become current affairs?

So--should I still describe myself as a dystopian author, or as a #contemprary author with some fanciful elements?

Scent of the Day; Wednesday, 4/2/25.
Vintage Ciara 100, from Charles Revson.
Crafted by Harry Cutler.

Leather, raspberry, opoponax, rosewood, incense, iris... Vintage Ciara is smoother than the contemprary iterations, but just as kick-ass.
I love her.

My wish is for garden centres to thrive by adapting to modern trends. To lead the way to a better future. Ban peat, pesticides and plastic from their shelves. Excite people with contemprary plant choices, sustainability and permaculture. Don’t be lost to the past. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Why are gen Zs deserting garden centres? Maybe they’re more into planting than shopping | Claire Ratinon
They can be joyful and important social spaces, but a new generation of customers runs a mile from the shelves of plastic and chemicals, says food grower and writer Claire Ratinon

Very expressive quality of giving meaning to an inanimate object that picks up all our comings & goings. I love this. Check out her work. It is alive.

Speaks to me abt the contemprary issues we are currently overwhelmed w/ so well...
well screams actually.

Serious question, couldn't contemprary developers make new chips that'd push the Famicom's capabilities even further? Where's the limit there?

While i liked backrooms for the most part - and its good to see a mature execution of the concept - just the longer it goes the more i feel it was just too damn conventional. It didnt really hit the marks i think the contemprary scp-control style genre can hit, and it could have took more risks

These Marvel reprints were great - I was reading older FF, Avengers, Spidey and such right alongside whatever their contemprary adventures were.

Maybe there is so logic in superheroes basically never aging or changing much

Fundamentally, in the context of art, we cannot easily generalise around "tech = good/bad" as there ought to be sufficient wiggle room for artists to interrogate, make sense of, and critically engage with any given occuring contemprary subject: that said, the resulting work is their responsibility.

I read project tepui by @dragonsofwales.bsky.social, a crowdfunded art book!

As expected i really liked the book and the extras it came with!
I also loved the designs inside- an exploration of contemprary speculation and older reconstructions. Would recommend.

I have mixed feelings towards how the Americans run their Hall Of Fame..anyways it is nice idea to have some sort of contemprary music musuem for Scotland.
Stars back bid to create Scotland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Midge Ure and Jim Kerr support plans to house the museum at Glasgow's troubled Centre for Contemporary Arts.

The contemprary heatwaves are just the beginning.

Books 2026.
15. Japan's War: Hirohito's Holy War Against the West, by Stewart Binns, 2025
Historical account of Japan's War that started way before Pearl Harbour. Uses contemprary accounts, letters and newspaper articles written by the Japanese themselves. Very interesting.
