Our conception of masculinity is always contextual to the time, shaped by both historical and contemporary culture. Today's "uber-masculine" men are much more shouty with a deep voice and He-Man physique. IMO, a product of our digital age and gender anxieties.

I've been thinking a lot about visible vs invisible skill layers. i.e every craft has outer layers of skills that laypeople can recognise, and inner layers that you need expertise and experience to perceive at all. Could y'all think of examples of visible vs invisible skills in your own discipline?

and I think that's why we're not seeing the centre right fight back in the way the centre left did in the Corbyn years - over the past decade or so, at least, "the centre right" has become entirely contextual, and contextual movements can't really effect meaningful change
