Morning, folks! A new week, a continued request for help. We managed to get my nephew a short extension on this month's rent but he still needs help. If you're able to buy me a coffee or purchase some low-cost TTRPG copyediting in my Ko-fi Shop, it would be appreciated. ko-fi.com/brentdorklor...

I added the useful advice to this, if you read it previously just skip to the Understand your role section, nothing prior was changed other than some copyediting cleanup.
Had a weird TCG article ish thing that I've been editing off and on for a bit.
Got the dense intro part into a better space and would solicit feedback about it.

I'm looking for help for my nephew, who lost his job and got ghosted by his employer. Shares and coffees are welcome, but I'm also offering low cost ttrpg copyediting in my Ko-fi Shop. I'm excellent and this is a steal of a deal, friends. ko-fi.com/brentdorklor...

hey, freelance ttrpg editor pals: what are your rates? for copyediting? for structural/dev editing, i.e., where you also (or primarily) give feedback on mechanics?
(not looking to hire someone; trying to establish my own rates!)

Because it came up, if you are a freelance editor working w/professionals, you should be charging enough to make a living wage. I see people charging under $1000 for copyediting an entire novel and I want to scream. You will burn yourself out if you take on enough work to survive at those rates.

Maybe the AI stocks are hyped and maybe they'll get destroyed but it seems to me the underlying technology will have a massive impact on society. Tens of millions of people will lose their jobs. From truck drivers to video editors to people who work in accounting or copyediting
