Storm, my 2 yrs old Albino Corn Snake samples a quail chick for the first time. From his immediate response I would say that he has no issue with the meal change, a bit of variety.

Doesn't help my main comparison is Hildegard, and cornsnakes are just inherently more noodle-like and less sausage-like as snakes go. So sand boas just always feel weird by comparison

Not this time, because I needed to show her how, but she's gotten into it by herself since. She's pretty big and cornsnakes are good climbers.

so last semester, the snake pedigrees assignment (basically a giant word problem where the students have to figure out the parents of a bunch of baby cornsnakes with punnett squares) was a trainwreck, but this semester they're knocking it out of the park. very exciting :)

I've had cornsnakes (love those little things!) and boas. We did have a technically venomous snek...a hognose (which are rear-fang venomous, but not dangerous to humans. Unless you're allergic to them) Sadly, she passed away at a ripe old age last year.

My mom recently was like "I just don't get having a pet you can't cuddle" and leaving aside that non-cuddly pets are still awesome, it's certainly news to Hildegard that cornsnakes don't cuddle

Yeah they're great for snakes like cornsnakes that climb a lot in their natural habitat. Hildegard in particular likes to keep an eye on things from above lol
