A trio of small and strange flowes of corybas or helmet orchids in various stages of development. On the right in the front is the oldest, completely opened flower. On the left, the flower is in the process of opening. In the back, the flower is still closed and growing. The flower of this Corybas pictus has 4 spurs, though on each side.

Corybas incurvus(Slaty helmet-orchid)
オーストラリア南東部からタスマニアにかけて自生する蘭。地面にハート型の葉を広げ、その上に指先ほどの小さな赤紫色の花をつける。花は冬から初春に開花する。
河川上流域のトレイル沿いなどで多数見られた。
こういう植物好き好き大好き。

Found a few fringed helmet orchids (Corybas fimbriatus) in Croajingolong NP, VIC on the #winter solstice - but couldn't see any in flower yet. Last yr in drier conditions I didn't see any plants at all at this location - but in 2022 they were already flowering in mid-June (second image) #orchids

Corybas recurvus - Helmet Orchid

This curious little orchid is endemic to Western Australia, often forming large colonies.

Sitting on top of a single heart shaped leaf, its flower is deep red to black and about the size of a marble 🌿

Corybas himalaicus 🌷🌱
is accepted species in the family Orchidaceae subfamily. Found in the eastern Himalayas, Vietnam, western Sichuan and western Yunnan China, Taiwan on rocks, moss on fallen trees at elevations of 2600 to 3040 meters as a mini-miniature sized #orchids

During my Saturday walk, I was lucky enough to spot the endangered Fringed-Helmet Orchid, #Corybas fimbriatus!

As you can see from the photos, that's a very #small #orchid!!

Cradle orchids (Corybas aconitiflorus) in the leaf litter at Henry Somerset reserve. Fringed helmet-orchid (Corybas fimbiratus), at Henry Somerset Reserve. These are about the size of a British penny, if not smaller, so take some finding!

A cluster of mauve splitting waxcaps (Porpolomopsis lewelliniae), which were in relative abundance. Some of the other fungi species, including a tiny parasite on gilled cap mushrooms, Neobarya agaricicola, at bottom left, and the prettymouth puffball (Calostoma fuscum), at bottom right. One of the tiny helmet orchids, Corybas diemenicus, in flower. A tiny sundew (Drosera sp.) I chanced upon when bending down to retie my boot!

Thinking about how save regionally critical plants, most of which most people have never seen or even heard of.

Without intervention, many of these plants will go locally extinct, and there is currently no program or funding to address these issues.

Some species haven't been seen for decades.
