#covidzero
There's a certain subset of the population that's made covid reationism their entire personality, whether it's forever masking/covidzero or the polar opposite.

It's the 5 year anniversary of UK schools "closing".

How much discussion of those events happened today?

We appear to have a disconnect when it comes to COVID-19.

Year / COVID deaths / Road accident deaths
2020 / 25 / 254
2021 / 26 / 261
2022 / 2280 / 298
2023 to date / 1045 / 275

#VisionZero for the roads but public health abandoned #covidZero. 😥

That sucks. You can get RATS here in BC at pharmacies for free

Too bad you can't get in New Zealand because for a while you guys were the best outside of Taiwan, Thailand & Vietnam.

You actually had #CovidZero I used to compare BC's horrible covid infection and death rates with NZ in tweets

Probably: repeated purges of PLA military top ranks + politburo full of incompetence+ covidzero policy+strongman rule and everything that comes with that, etc
See: Edtech industry and political meddling in it

realistically, given the list of things that we know cause executive dysfunction, unless you’re a covidzero with no trauma and a lot of cash in the bank, yep you’ve got executive dysfunction! and that’s not even getting into the microplastics

Statcan/Kuang et al, 2023: #Canada: Of people who have experienced 1, 2, & 3 bouts of #COVID19, 14.6%, 25.4%, & 37.9% report symptoms >3mo.. 49.7% with symptoms >3mo. report no improvement over time. Only 5.7% were diagnosed with #longCOVID.

Imagine we did a six-week COVIDzero experiment, but we called it emergency climate action instead
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) averaged 423 ppm in August 2024

10 years ago August averaged about 397 ppm

You're telling me the Lions are good and the Pistons are bad?

What alternate universe have I wandered into, and why isn't it one where we did #COVIDzero?

[Abstract] Milton et al, 2023: Although other masks/respirators reduced the number of genome copies exhaled, N95 respirators - donned unassisted - consistently achieved the highest reduction in gc exhaled; KN95 consistently achieved the lowest.

Those people would instantly consider themselves to valuable to be subjected to covid risk if covid safe spaces existed. The ridicule they heap on the vulnerable and covidzero advocates is 95% fear and 5% ignorance. Only fear makes you as rabid and irrational as they are

The frustration can be valid, even if it's not a justification for ending masking. The difficulties is communication are definitely valid for the former!

We could all be safely unmasked if the people in power had taken a #COVIDzero approach. Heck, they still could. If they wanted to. If.

This is my barometer for how long covid has been around. Received this 400g bottle in Feb 2020, weeks before everything went to hell. I hope we get to #covidzero before the end of the bottle.

The province's public health goal is to keep cases low enough that we don't exceed healthcare capacity and we don't overwhelm contract tracing.

But any strategy other than #COVIDzero seems to me to be profoundly inequitable and ableist.

Want to reiterate how much I appreciate how seriously our prov. govts are taking this in Atlantic Canada. E.g., #NovaScotia brought & mandatory masks *after* we'd already essentially hit #COVIDzero in summer. Thank you for being proactive. @nsgov...
