counterpoint: while the nyt et al aren’t remotely above criticism, journalism is defined by a set of editorial processes, and a lot of people who at best blog their opinions and have never reported a school board meeting more or less advocate for the destruction of journalism qua journalism
I almost respect a rightwing partisan hack more than a supposed neutral journalist because their motives are made plain. A journalist will look you right in the eye and tell you that the rightwing outcomes they are obviously agitating for are neutral and, in fact, noble of them to pursue...

Personally, I honestly think that if the university lost this (so that there wouldn't be as much incentive for people to go for credentials, but rather for learning things that they could use in situations that were not gatekept by credentials)
