Our new work!

We show that T cell cross-reactivity can be reduced without modifying the TCR itself (by dramatically enhancing antigen discrimination).

Remember all that "mysterious" pediatric hepatitis of "unknown etiology?"

Turns out the "alarmists" were right. It was Covid.

Combining multiplex serology, mathematical modelling, and experimental validation reveals arbovirus transmission dynamics despite cross-reactivity. (1/2)
Investigating antibody cross-reactivity and transmission dynamics of alphaviruses and flaviviruses using a multiplex serological assay - Nature Communications
Arboviruses often co-circulate, but cross-reactivity hampers serological diagnostics. Here, the authors paired multiplex serology with competitive immunoassays and Bayesian modelling to quantify antib...

NOTE: you'll see me probably list methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, benzisothiazoline and MBIT (2-Methyl-1,2-benzothiazol-3(2H)-one) during this; my understanding is they're the same family and cross-reactivity is common. Winsor Newton's regulatory department told me as much, too

Some unanticipated cross-reactivity of XBB.1.5 antibodies, which forecasts better for the new booster 🧪

Excellent discussion by Daniel Park of 3 recent papers on the Novavax SARSCoV2 vaccine. Better durability and cross reactivity and milder side effects than RNA vax.

That's the way it appeared from early data, but it's good to see that confirmed.

Even if, as Pelech claims, you computationally select peptides that are not conserved across flu subtypes, you will likely have cross-reactivity. Peptides are not always structurally like the full protein so you get off-target binding & flu is notoriously cross-reactive.

…sort of, because with flu you can still get cross-reactivity from other HA subtypes. To be really sure you need to deplete other subtypes’ antibodies from your sample before testing. Otherwise you STILL have cross-reactivity. Best to validate results by another method.
