Reform UK has received a record-breaking £36 million donation from British cryptocurrency billionaire Ben Delo, marking the largest single donation ever given to a UK political party. Delo, who has previously donated £4 million to the party, stated he is making the contribution to ensure a 'fair fight and a level playing field' in the political landscape. The donation will be spread over monthly installments of £1 million until 2029, though Delo has chosen to provide the full amount upfront to circumvent potential future restrictions on large donations. Currently, there are no limits on the amount UK-based donors can contribute to political parties, though Labour has previously introduced a £100,000 cap on donations from British citizens living overseas. Delo, a Sheffield-born entrepreneur who has moved back to the UK from Hong Kong to continue supporting Reform, was granted an unconditional pardon by former US President Donald Trump in 2023 for a Bank Secrecy Act violation. Party leader Nigel Farage expressed being 'honoured and humbled' by the donation, while Labour and Liberal Democrat representatives criticized the move, accusing Reform of attempting to 'buy their way into power' and raising concerns about transparency and potential legal issues. Reform's fundraising has been under scrutiny following a police investigation into allegations of foreign funding law violations, with the party denying wrongdoing and pledging full cooperation. The donation also comes amid ongoing investigations into Farage's own financial dealings, including a £5 million gift from a Thailand-based cryptocurrency investor. The party has faced criticism for its fundraising practices, with Labour calling for stricter donation caps to protect democratic integrity. Despite these challenges, Reform UK continues to position itself as a significant political force, leveraging substantial financial backing to advance its agenda.

Ben Delo donated $5.0m on Apr 9, 2026 and backed a proposed UK moratorium on crypto political donations (Coindesk Apr 9, 2026).
