list of cryptographic aesop's fables
lmao how did I miss this. A group of cryptographers held an "secure" election using some fancy cryptography but one of the election trustees lost their decryption key and so the professional society of cryptologists couldn't figure out who won. Put it in Aesop's Fables!

If you can't handle me at my 20mb of cryptographic proofs, you don't deserve me at my 100 bytes
let's put some hard numbers to this. @pfrazee.com loves to post, you just can't stop him. one year ago you needed to store 8mb to verify his next write. today you need to store over 20mb, this number isn't getting any smaller.

with this update we're talking closer to a constant 100 bytes. 2/10

8675309 is prime, and so is 8675311, so if you ever need a middlin'-large pair of adjacent primes to test your cryptographic suite, all you need is a 1980s earworm and a +2 and you're all set.
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

I repeat, I am NOT penpals with the Zodiac Killer, and have NEVER spent an entire night inventing cryptographic code symbols, this should clear everything up, thank you for attending my press conference

The "all the weapons can be disabled by cryptographic keys" part is funny as hell
If I'm reading this correctly, then Yarvin wants the role of führer to be awarded via a Wings of Voice-style competition www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

There is complete industry consensus on this. Every reputable cryptographer on the planet agrees: Signal’s cryptographic protocols are the most secure in class. Period.

Just because your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate told you otherwise doesn’t make it true

Cryptographic and cybersecurity agency to delete its internal operational documents that contain words commonly used in cryptographic and cybersecurity contexts is quite something
2. A memo distributed by NSA leadership to its staff says that on February 10, all NSA websites and internal network pages that contain banned words will be deleted.

This is the list of 27 banned words distributed to NSA staff:

"bias" also comes up a lot in cryptographic contexts (e.g. biased RNG, biased nonce)

tfw they dont have magical deduction/cryptographic powers, they just use search functions

2) SHA-256 - it's the most boring (complimentary) cryptographic hash function around

I am a professional cryptographic engineer.

I regularly open my Calculator app to check that 32 * 8 still equals 256.

As the Secretary of Gwar found out, cryptographic communications are only as secure as the competency of the people communicating.

It is possible to do this responsibly with cryptographic protocols that preserve user privacy, but not without direct investment by the US govt in an Estonian-style cryptographic universal ID system.

Until then, it will be impossible to perform this without dramatically violating adults' 1A rights.
When does freedom for adults become cruelty to children?

When we allow unfettered access to porn online. It's time for the Supreme Court to uphold porn age verification laws. Enough is enough. Too many children are being exposed to utter depravity at very young ages. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/12/o...
