Book #132 of 2026 - The United States of Cryptids by J. W. Ocker. The author’s well known for traveling to eerie & odd points of interest, and this one is for mythological or unknown creatures throughout the US. It’s more for people new to cryptozoology (I devoured it as a kid) but entertaining

“We have more information about #Bigfoot sightings than we have about maybe 90% of mammals in North America”

🧪 A researcher is using all of this #cryptozoology data to test models that could predict #climate impacts on wildlife, as @leahbortskuperman.bsky.social reports for the @thenarwhal.ca:
What Bigfoot can teach us about predicting the impacts of climate change
Believe it or not, researchers are using Sasquatch data to better understand how well their methods for studying scientifically recognized species are working

The Strange Case of the Minnesota Iceman, Part 1 — Tetrapod Zoology
The modern-day corpse of a human-like hominid, preserved in a block of ice, encountered by researchers in the 1960s, you say? Surely the zoological discovery of the century!

Circus Train Wrecks... yes they certainly happened. Rather frequently. But, no, the animals that escaped were never credible cryptids.

I've posted it before but here's a link to it, and there's a reason I spell the Salish nature deity as 'Saskaets' because that's the Anglicization of the Salish word, one, and because it doesn't have the cryptozoology baggage.
