#cybersickness
i guess my hot take on cybersickness is that the computer isn't by itself causing cybersickness, it's the interaction between and embedded context of the computer with wider offline space, which in turn cyclically influence each others' construction at this point
Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13
The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

the VR sphere uses cybersickness to describe a particular sensation of motion sickness and kinesthetic dislocation but cybersickness also describes that feeling in your brain when you get sucked into social media doomscrolling and pointless arguments and feel just terrible and unfulfilled

this is b/c transphobia is a brain-melting cognitohazard. it's v. important to understand this. once you go down this path you cannot shut the fuck up about it, whether you're a republican reactionary or a beltway centrist, to the point where it resembles any other kind of net-induced cybersickness
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrat Abigail Spanberger wins Virginia governor’s race.

explains a lot with their disconnect from party bases though tbh. never mind that the party base wants republican and reform heads on stakes, they're too busy getting algorithmic cybersickness and developing the technoplaques that make you think immigrants & trans people are the biggest thrests
It does not seem good that a sizable portion of the political and media elite would rather cook their brains on a white nationalist website than have to engage with criticism from the left.

just saw someone say meta snowgraved ai hiring. any of human processes and software processes and corporate processes being killed is all now "snowgraving". algorithmic roulette and doomscrolling spirals are now "cybersickness". the silly cyberpunk language is finally emerging

- avg downtown street is covered by a spider web of wires
- glass towers sprout out of old buildings
- underground path that feels like a dead mall
- laid foundations for both AI & transphobic typology: two key parts of modern cybersickness

conclusion: toronto is north america's most "denpa" city

my contention here is that cybersickness wouldn't be as prominent if the communicative aspects of computer space were intertwined with more interconnected and democratic modes of social offline space. i think this ultimately requires rethinking the computer for any communistic social relation

Choom got the cybersickness so he snowgraved our dinner plans. What a DOS of shortcircs chromie

does the computer alone drive people into a radicalism called cybersickness? let's flip the chessboard for a second: why is our left fragile? imo, the virtual-material space of the computer with the capitalist housing-workplace combo are the most successful disciplinary technologies in history

hey! oomfs are off fighting with some technosickos in this night's Cyberwar on X, can you believe they think "yaoi is better than het"? oomfie, i swear they're totally tapped-out its crazy. just complete cybersickness. you gonna jack in or you're gonna stay analog tonight

Can postural alignment reduce VR cybersickness? New research found trunk-trajectory misalignment increases cybersickness by 5%, while adaptation reduced symptom odds by 75% over extended exposure.

Cybersickness is so hilarious actually I genuinely enjoy the name they came up with for that specific kind of motion sickness

Makes me feel incredibly future space, to not be able to use VR without becoming incredibly ill

Do cybersickness mitigation methods work? New research found dynamic FOV and dynamic blurring didn’t reduce cybersickness symptoms and also led to behavioural adaptations.

I thought I was cool for having cybersickness (video games make me nauseated & VR makes me sweat from the hair and throw up on the floor) but now I know I'm extra cool for also having time sickness (lose 3 hours staring at wall)

googled motion sickness when stationary.

Cybersickness came up and that sounds cyberpunk af... turns out its just screen induced motion sickness

think it rose in popularity with VR.

I found out that when my vertigo is triggered by scrolling too fast on the internet it's called cybersickness, and that's rad as hell
