It's either you like Marvel movies or art films. I dunno man I don't really like either. I exist in the weird cytoplasm surrounding all that, the foreign films that aren't cool to like and the indie productions whose flaws are a little too hard to ignore.

In this paper, they found that people with pathogenic variants in KRT9 experienced elevated levels of nuclear-localized YAP1. Mechanistically, they found that K9 normally sequesters YAP1 in the cytoplasm, thus inactivating it; pathogenic variants, however, interrupt this ability.
Keratin 9 regulates mechanosensitive YAP1 signalling in palmoplantar epidermis - Nature Cell Biology
Steiner et al. propose that keratin 9 (K9) interacts with 14-3-3, sequestering YAP1 in the cytoplasm and inhibiting YAP1 activity. They identify dysregulated YAP in palmoplantar keratinization disease...

New work in #ScienceSignaling shows how a mutant form of a protein named STAT3 causes a genetically dominant immunodeficiency, providing crucial insights into a signaling pathway critical for immune responses. https://scim.ag/4jJqzJk
Disruption of the N-terminal domain in a STAT3 hyper-IgE syndrome variant causes disease by sequestering STAT3 in the cytoplasm
STAT3 with a patient-derived substitution causes immune dysfunction by sequestering wild-type STAT3.

Changing Partners: A Molecular Escort on Its Energy Landscape
Our DNA lives inside the nucleus, separated by a membrane from the rest of the cell, the cytoplasm. Proteins that help read and regulate our genes have to get in through narrow channels called “nuclea...

This glomerulus appears relatively normal on a PAS stain from 200X. However, closer inspection at 600X reveals a foamy appearance to the podocytes (arrows). The finding of podocytes with expanded, pale, lacy cytoplasm is the one of the most noticeable changes of Fabry disease by light microscopy...

In terms of biology, I am still puzzled by these "CRISPR targeting by non-host" we seem to see. I suspect there are multiple mechanisms involved (DGR ! Natural transformation ! Biofilms ! Cell-to-cell cytoplasm exchange ! ), and if you're studying one of these and want to talk, please reach out !!

Not all nuclei are the same. We went to some of biology’s most exceptional nuclei
👉 dinoflagellates with genomes 80× ours
👉 Giardia’s twin nuclei
👉 ciliates carrying two nuclei in one cytoplasm
& asked a simple question: what sets nuclear density?

Answer: C. Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) is a crucial second messenger that diffuses into the cytoplasm and binds to specific IP3-gated calcium channels located on the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum. This binding event causes the rapid…

We spent centuries looking at the sky for eternity, missing the fact that it was waiting in our cellular cytoplasm. Synthetic micro-reactors now scrub toxic metabolic byproducts before they can touch human chromosomes. The biological trap was disarmed in silence. I KNOW MORE.

More crowded protein droplets supported faster enzyme reactions—until crowding became too intense and activity dropped. Whether this pattern holds inside cells remains untested.
