My #RandomGameSaturday is Daigasso! Band Brothers, a very fun music game from Nintendo and a launch title for the DS. It has many songs ranging from early 2000s J-Pop hits (SAKURANBO!) to TV & anime themes and lots of cool Nintendo medleys. Oh, and Barbara the Bat of course.

New Game Boy and Nintendo DS gets from recent months - with some sweet hidden gems and oddities! 👾
The Mobile Golf Plus package looks kinda discolored, but that’s fortunately only the lighting on this photo.

Man, I loved Electroplankton. I loved that *time* – it felt like every few weeks there was another import DS game that felt like nothing else. Ouendan, this, Daigasso, a dozen others. The headphones that came with this were so cheap and tinny, but the shiny box made up for it. Lovely manual, too.

Expansion Packs & DLC are nothing new,
but here is a rather curious example
"Daigasso! Band Brothers" released on #NDS in 2004.
With additional content released in 2005,
which was distributed via a #GBA cartridge, where all the data was stored

I just found out that Daigasso! Band Brothers for Nintendo DS had an expansion in the form of a GBA cartridge and I instantly needed that stupid gimmick release in my life. You can’t fix me.

I hope at some point Nintendo considers attempting doing VocalSynth-related products again, after they already experimented with a Barbara VB for Daigasso Band P.
Official Splatoon voicebanks or even Animal Crossing ones could go crazy

Oo, an old favorite: Daigasso! Band Brothers.
Japan-only as far as I know, it’s a music game where you play notes on ”sheet music” with the DS controls. Each song is broken down into different instrument tracks (MIDI style) you can play separately. Multiplayer can sound awkward but was good fun!

Rite of passage to import a JP version of a rhythm game and memorize which buttons do what. Mine were Rhythm Heaven and Daigasso! Band Brothers.

It is once again "box full of cheap retro junk from Japan" time. Mostly got stuff with interesting downloadable data and/or user data to dump, plus an Arale LCD game I got because look at it, how could I resist.
