Oo, an old favorite: Daigasso! Band Brothers.

Japan-only as far as I know, it’s a music game where you play notes on ”sheet music” with the DS controls. Each song is broken down into different instrument tracks (MIDI style) you can play separately. Multiplayer can sound awkward but was good fun!

It is once again "box full of cheap retro junk from Japan" time. Mostly got stuff with interesting downloadable data and/or user data to dump, plus an Arale LCD game I got because look at it, how could I resist.

Day 15-2
Demon Days

Are oni demons...? Close enough! Shin Onigashima was one of Koji Kondo's early Famicom soundtracks, but it was never released in the West. Here's a medley that I really like from Daigasso Band Brothers/Jam With the Band: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqW5...

#RandomGameSaturday - Jam with the Band, the sequel to Daigasso! and the only one to get a western release. The playlist is totally different from its JP counterpart but luckily we got Every Breath You Take and Jungle Boogie🕺

Was going through my camera roll and remembered how excited I was waiting for Daigasso! Band Brothers P to release on the 3DS. I held on hope for years for it to come west, especially cause it had a StreetPass puzzle in Japan. Now I don’t hold out hope even for a new entry for Japan only. Miss it!

I know DS games can be dumped on 3DS, but not sure exactly how or if it applies to Daigasso DLC songs. Was gonna look into it once I get the carts I ordered.

Oooh, have you dumped the Mobile Golf save? The REON team might be interested in the content for the Mobile Adapter servers recreation.

Hope the Daigasso carts have some downloaded songs! I have some on the way for dumping those.

New Game Boy and Nintendo DS gets from recent months - with some sweet hidden gems and oddities! 👾

The Mobile Golf Plus package looks kinda discolored, but that’s fortunately only the lighting on this photo.

Jump Superstars (DS)
Cooking Mama (DS)
Jump Ultimate Stars (DS)
Daigasso! Band Brothers DX (DS)
K-On! Hokago Live (PSP)

Though I guess that's ignoring a couple of used games I bought off a friend back in the day.^^"
The first games that I ever imported

Never heard about this, and I don't know who else would care, but Nintendo were previewing Daigasso Band Brothers as a GBA game in 2001, with the working title "Game Boy Music", and promising 25 songs. It would later release as a DS launch game with 35 (and a further 31 via a GBA expansion cart).

Expansion Packs & DLC are nothing new,
but here is a rather curious example

"Daigasso! Band Brothers" released on #NDS in 2004.
With additional content released in 2005,
which was distributed via a #GBA cartridge, where all the data was stored

Thank you for this daigasso reference on my feed! I desperately wish we had a new game for Switch or the 2, but doubt it ever happening again. You made my day!

I just found out that Daigasso! Band Brothers for Nintendo DS had an expansion in the form of a GBA cartridge and I instantly needed that stupid gimmick release in my life. You can’t fix me.

Man, I loved Electroplankton. I loved that *time* – it felt like every few weeks there was another import DS game that felt like nothing else. Ouendan, this, Daigasso, a dozen others. The headphones that came with this were so cheap and tinny, but the shiny box made up for it. Lovely manual, too.
Today's video game for the Nintendo DS is Electroplankton, developed by indieszero and published by Nintendo! It was released on January 9, 2006.

I hope at some point Nintendo considers attempting doing VocalSynth-related products again, after they already experimented with a Barbara VB for Daigasso Band P.

Official Splatoon voicebanks or even Animal Crossing ones could go crazy

Booted my 3DS for the first time in years to play one of my favorite songs in Daigasso. Managed to get a 91% playing the vocals instrument on the second highest difficulty. Not bad for not having touched it in so long, so happy with that. Hope the series returns one day. Any fellow fans out there?

Miss the Daigasso series, one of my all time favorite rhythm game series! We're never going to get another! 😭

Fun fact about the 3DS one: Before launch, they came out with the music creation software by itself, titled using a word that implied users were Barbara's slave, to submit songs for release.
