Keep the data centers away from our Great Lakes.

What do these AI pricks think will happen when they drain all the rivers and lakes to cool their data centers? How will they keep their stupid bullshit going then?

Welcome @globservingsystem.bsky.social and thanks for all the #GreatLakes data collection and science. Not gonna be this calm in the upper lakes tonight!

It's safe to assume that all major LLMs are scraping Bluesky data to train future models.

As an open protocol, Bluesky is one of the few sources of fresh human-generated content that anybody can gobble up. So all this is probably going in the models.

There are submarines in the Great Lakes.

More than 100 data centres have gone up in the Greater Toronto Area, on Lake Ontario. The Great Lakes region is drawing the facilities because of the favourable climate and abundance of water for cooling systems. What does this mean for our freshwater ecosystems?

Data generated by the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory has helped to successfully avoid a repeat of a 2014 crisis in Toledo, Ohio, when nearly half a million people were warned to not drink the water or even touch it.

If oligarchs had to build data centers on their property, they'd find a way to build them to be self supporting.

They'd have to build lakes, ponds, drill wells, and use renewable energies.

If it was totally their dime, data centers would be non-intrusive and self supporting.

This one goes out to my friends at @RealGLOS for collecting data on the Great Lakes. If you live in the Great Lakes basin you should support them for safer boating, beaching, fishing, paddling, freight hauling and of course…science about me 🌊🌊

This is honestly shocking. All of the info so far says data centers destroy environments, and particularly water. City of lakes?? Data centers??
Council Members Shaffer, Rainville, Vetaw, Palmisano, and Warren just voted to try and stop the City Council from even considering a moratorium on data centers in Minneapolis.

Apparently some supposed DFLers are so captured by corporate interests they’re pro data centers now. Appalling.
