DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) is ready for its post-OSF life. You can use it as before to save data from online experiments, but now the data can be sent to Zenodo, Google Drive, or a Dataverse instance. Existing OSF connections work until 11/16

I took this opportunity to do some major updates...

With the upcoming changes to OSF, DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) is migrating to a multi-backend model. We're currently developing support for Zenodo, Dataverse, and Google Drive. If there are other providers that you'd like to see as options please get in touch.

Really enjoyed getting to participate in open source development with the team from COS! Pretty soon, you'll be able to connect an OSF component to DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) directly through your OSF account.

I've also expanded the ways you can sign up. You can use your existing Google, ORCID, or GitHub accounts to create a DataPipe account.

This was a lot of change, so please test your experiments carefully before collecting data. If you identify any problems, get in touch here or open an issue at github.com/jspsych/data...

If you take advantage of the new save-as-you-go approach, you'll also be able to see a live update on your DataPipe dashboard of how many sessions are currently active.

Just released: DataPipe now allows you to select what region (US, EU, Canada, Australia) the OSF data is stored in.

I hope this resolves GDPR-compliance for researchers in the EU 🌍
I made this tool that I think is pretty useful if you are running online experiments and using the OSF. It's free. And open source. And you can use other free tools with it to run an online experiment for free.

DataPipe is a free tool for saving experimental data directly to the OSF, making it born-open by default. pipe.jspsych.org doi.org/10.31234/osf... @joshdeleeuw.bsky.social

You can now save experiment data as you go. In fact, this is now the recommended approach. The new DataPipe extension for jsPsych saves data after every trial. If a connection is dropped, the partial data file is uploaded.

Thanks to the DataPipe plugin (pipe.jspsych.org), the data can be automatically uploaded to OSF (born-open!) so that wouldn't be an issue!

Failed uploads are retained in an encrypted storage bucket for seven days. DataPipe will try to reupload these files periodically, but you can also log in to your dashboard and download them manually.

And, if an upload fails, we now send you an email notifying you right away.

I'm working on migrating datapipe to support other storage providers. Hope to have concrete information out in a few weeks.

I must admit jspsych is pretty cool @joshdeleeuw.bsky.social! I love that you have datapipe plugin allows users to use @cos.io as a server.

Underlying you have the AT protocol - that is the datapipe.

The apps connect to the pipe and can give different views of the data.

Bluesky gives a twitter-style view
Flashes gives an instagram-style view

Other things will come along with other views.

Gah this is understandable but a huge bummer. Among other things, lately I've been loving Datapipe & OSF for jspsych experiments...
Over the next several months, we will phase out some popular OSF features. These changes do not affect current public content, which remains safe and accessible. We have prepared support material to help users adapt. I am very sorry for the disruption to your work. Please read this post for details.
OSF Changes | Center for Open Science
We are preparing substantial changes to OSF that will reduce its functionality, focus OSF on its unique strengths, and move toward an integrated model with complementary services. As part of that shif...

Uploading allows born-open data. (Here's a paper-length version of how/why: link.springer.com/article/10.3...). It also lets computationally-heavy analysis scripts push intermediate results.

I created DataPipe (pipe.jspsych.org) in part to make it possible to host online experiments for free. The docs give an example of how to host for free on github and use datapipe to send data to the OSF.

That looks great. I'll take a look and see if my code could ever be suitable for a PR.

But more importantly; _thank you_ for the great work on jsPsych, datapipe etc.
