FWIW as someone with daughters in grades 9 and 10 high school has been much better so far in terms of inclusion

We do educate our sons (and daughters) to not rape (yes, women rape, too). Just like we tell them, "Don't steal," "Don't lie," and "Don't hurt others." Everyone KNOWS that doing these things is WRONG. Some just don't care. And, especially with rape, there's little to no consequences for the action.

As the mom of two daughters whose oldest is deciding where to go to college, I've been sick to my stomach reading the stories of the horrific Cornell rape case - and how people in positions of authority failed her, never mind the 57 men who knew and did nothing to stop it. (1/3)

And it’s just expected of her. When I did the healthcare staffing thing, I would deal with daughters of the patients pretty much 90% of the time. When I got a son who was caring for his parent/s, it was not the norm.

I raised both my daughters on Steven Universe. They loved it. There is something magical about them having started to watch the early seasons when they were too young to have understood the complexity that was to come - like Pearl’s odd conflict. Almost like it was written to grow up to.
Whereas what she really needs to do is reject the idea of feudal caste systems altogether, which she gradually and haltingly does throughout the show's run. This is actually a very good character arc. The show in general gets a bunch of hate from cynics* but it could actually be thoughtful and good.
