"To give just a sense of how different the emerging picture is: it is clear now that human societies before the advent of farming were not confined to small, egalitarian bands."

This was a fascinating look at different ways that societies developed across the world and how we can reinvention the role of it. I found it so interesting.

Just finished "The Dawn of Everything" by David Graeber (RIP) and @davidwengrow.

It's hard to overstate the importance of this book - it is a masterclass in expanding one's possibility space.

So much of what we think we know about "humanity" needs to be reconsidered.

'Every family seemed to have an artist.' @davidwengrow

if we actually do let go enough to try the unconditional part of left to own devices ness.. we'll see that everyone is an artist.. aka: art – being human

What humans do when faced with big challenges:

We come together to decide together what to do.

This is why the next step in tackling climate change needs to be citizen assemblies, for the citizens of the world to do what politicians have not: save our planet.

Spent some really good time on Christmas reading “The Dawn of Everything” by @davidwengrow and the late David Graeber. Can not recommend the book enough. Deconstructs the assumptions of human history in a playful and mischievous way. Such a good book.

In his book, @davidwengrow keeps calling the original inhabitants of the Americas as, well, the Americans.

Not Native Americans, and for fks sake, not Indians.🤬

And I’m loving it ❤️🙏🏽

Not sure I'll completely follow in every detail, but that's some definitely thought-provoking reading by @davidgraeber & @davidwengrow via @Eurozine...

Seriously, recommended reading. With statements and thoughtful input from @shakenbeck, @preshitorian, @MichaelDPress, @Boothicus, @davidwengrow, and @pontus_skoglund.

Absolutely worth a second (and third) thought. Well done! 👏
