A review of HEART OF A DRAGON - book 1 of The DeChance Chronicles. It's .99 in ebook everywhere, and "free" with KU. I wrote this series to shake off the stricter guidelines imposed by White Wolf on the WoD novels.
Review - Heart of a Dragon (Dechance Chronicles #1) by David Niall Wilson
What is Heart of a Dragon? Donovan DeChance is a collector of ancient manuscripts and books, a practicing mage, and a private investigator. Over the span of a long life,...

#Horrorwriterschat The about me is in or linked in my bio. I've shared this before, but when writing "A Midnight Dreary," the last book in the DeChance Chronicles (so far) My series protagonist, Donovan DeChance walked up to me in a dream and said, "You forgot the cat." - correct & important.
Here we are with #HorrorWritersChat question 1:
Introduce yourself: tell us who you are and share a horror writing related dream

#Horrorwriterschat I have wanted to set a story in Chicago for a long time. I even have a Donovan DeChance angle for it, but have never gotten around to it, despite my life-long love of the Cubs and obsession with H. H. Holmes

Tell us about a real place you've always wanted to set a horror story, but haven't yet done so.

Back in the day I wrote a LOT of books for White Wolf's World of Darkness. I also pitched books they did not take because they did not fit the "gaming world" - so when I quit doing the ti-eins, I created The DeChance Chronicles. My own dark urban fantasy series. It needs a fandom. Who is in?

#HorrorWritersChat That's easy. Donovan DeChance has been alive since the 1860s without much change in appearance. He knows magic. In a day I could come here through his labyrinth, leave a bottle of bourbon with Vanessa's blood and a letter to myself. I would become formidable.
#HorrorWritersChat question 2:
If you could become one of your characters for a day, who would it be? And why?

#HorrorWritersChat First, I have very little fear of haunted houses, but if I had to do it, I'd choose Donovan DeChance without hesitation. First, he could get us out of the house. Second he might be able to stop the haunting. Three, he might share something that lengthens my life so...

#horrorwriterschat Hard question. In most of my books and stories there is at least one character I'd like to hang out with. Overall, though, I have to go with Donovan DeChance. We think a lot alike, and being friends with him would have a lot of perks.
#HorrorWritersChat question 3:
Next week (30th) is International Friendship Day. Which of your characters (in any work) could you see yourself being best friends with? And why?

#HorrorWritersChat This is a toss-up. Either Donovan DeChance or Cletus Diggs. We all share things in common, just different things. I'd love to be besties with Asmodeus the Raven. That might be the best choice.

#HorrorWritersChat This is easy. Old Mill, North Carolina. Why? Because Cletus now lives in an old plantation house that my other character, Donovan DeChance, has connected to the "labyrinth," tunnels that can take you anywhere/when if you know how to use them. Could take the story out to play.
#HorrorWritersChat question 2:
You can only use one setting in all your horror works going forward. What/where would this place be?

I have a story in this where my character Donovan DeChance interacts with the teenage sort-of-super heroes from my novel HOODS. This book is a lot of fun.
