Apparently bookmarks are meant to be used with the tassel coming out the TOP of the book, not the bottom.
I've been using bookmarks wrong all my life.

I am kind of wondering whether given the continuing mass instability around the world (and the proactively increasing likelihood of previously considered-unlikely forms of international conflict up to and including total war) we will see the reemergence of defence-oriented city planning.

The oppressed shouldn't and do not have to fight on the terms of their oppressors and defeat them in single combat like this is all a sports hobby. Following a lot of martial arts oriented self defence stuff narrows understanding very much to combat sports of various kinds.
