ROMIR stopped publishing it’s monthly deflator index
Russia: I guess ROMIR has decided to stop publishing the deflator index, they’ve removed it from website crawler.

Would love to see as % of capital base. Regular deflator feels wrong metric.

RBADVISERS:

“.. The Fed focuses on core inflation, maybe because they don’t drive or eat.

.. For the rest of us, the headline GDP Deflator is the now highest in more than 40 — 40! — years when excluding the post-pandemic oddities.”

Absolutely *wild* fact: China's GDP deflator is 9.5% lower than it was a decade ago (-1% annualized deflation for a decade).

ROMIR’s deflator index that has become a good supplemental check to actual consumer goods prices mysteriously stopped publishing their monthly data report

New research from the RBA: "Business owner returns also accounted for a significant part of the growth in the household consumption deflator over 2022"

ie it was profits.

And the AFR, and RBA and Treasury owe some apologies to those who called them out back then.

This is not the 90s part bazilion and 6--the absolute voracious consumption of resources required for the AI buildout means the GDP deflator (economy wide inflation) is running 2.75x 1999 w. equip & intellectual prop investment inflation contributing meaningfully vs the disinflation of the 90s

Easy mistake, Nick has applied the CPI-ex video games deflator, where he should have applied the "but that was my parents' money" deflator.

And now the question 😁
What was the real growth of Russia's GDP in 2024, if the official is 4.3%
(if we take the real deflator) 😂

Answer. GDP growth was -2%...-3%
"inflation for the poor", calculated based on the consumption basket of the least well-off citizens, was 17% - ЦМАКП

OOO well, that's a different matter. Everything depends on the correct set of food baskets. Sleight of hand, and instead of 17%, the official inflation is 10.3%.

US GDP growth is below consensus, contracting by 0.3%.
The number some key economists focus on, which strips out highly volatile and likely reversible components, was notably better.
The inflation data in this report remained high, with the GDP deflator at 3.7% (core at 3.5%).
