If they were that close to timing out, the flight should not have gone ahead. Duty day requires flight crew to have 8 hours of uninterrupted rest. Makes next takeoff 10 hours from deplaning.

It's been maybe 7 or 8 years, but flight from Singapore to SFO turned around mid-Pacific to divert to Tokyo. By deplaning they had tables setup by last name with your hotel room, which bus to get on, voucher for food and your rebooked flight. I put that on the Japanese not the airline.
