The current Red Sox is a result of emulating the Rays rather than the Dodgers. A steady stream of young cheap talent replaces big money on generational players. It’s why we lost mookie, Xander, Chris sale, devers. Rays have zero rings btw; just like moneyball it doesn’t work in the postseason.

You might be right about that but I'm not especially comforted by the idea of a franchise that occasionally makes a big $$ decision as a reaction to fan outrage. Doesn't seem likely to work out well (Devers certainly didn't). I'd want an organization that spends bc it's a core operating principle.

That's fair but that where the fan backlash comes in. It had an effect when it came to influencing then to sign Devers to a longterm deal after trading Mookoe and butchering the negotiation with Xander. Henry has thin skin and active ears

I think they will too because I think they are going in with very low expectations and that's usually when something good happens. A lot rests on if Tony has the balls to platoon Lee, Gilbert, Adames, and Devers to an extent. The issue is will they have enough pitching by mid season.
