2017 - Guardian of the Gears
100%

Un tout petit jeu réalisé par des étudiants de Digipen ressemblant beaucoup à l'esthétique de Hob.
Un jeu court mais très chouette et totalement gratuit.

Does Digipen apply often with their projects? I feel like they are training and doing something much more industrial in scope though, so maybe they don't apply in the same way? Like, this makes a lot of sense- but in a nuanced way around how we teach making a videogame

Oh looks like you have my school down as LWIT! Digipen does get some credit on that one as well.

What's digipen?

Really interesting chart! I think that's not quite accurate though, last year 'Sip Fisher' was made by students both at Digipen and the college I work at, LWTech. It was a nomination.

you may note that digipen is not on this chart at all. which I find fascinating

I have a completely useless B.A. in Game Design from DigiPen. The only thing they ever tried to teach us was to write long, detailed design documents. I constantly argued that this was stupid and backwards, but all my instructors agreed that games start with a list of every asset they'll contain.

The downside of all the college I had (AA from the now defunct Art Institute of Seattle, and a BFA at DigiPen) is that I learned a little of everything. Graphic design, illustration, animation, 3d modeling, audio and video recording/editing, storyboarding, etc etc. I know a little bit of a lot.

That's so cool that you worked on Scribblenauts, I loved that series. I'm pretty sure EGM had a feature on DigiPen back in the day (might've been Game Informer) and the fact that a video game design university existed was the coolest thing in the world to me.

I got my BS in Computer Science (technically the RTIS program) in 2009. The majority of the Scribblenauts team was recent DigiPen graduates

This is *extremely* timely, as I introduced this game to my 7 and 4 year olds in my life yesterday and they were absolutely enamoured by it.

I also vaguely knew you worked on this because of DigiPen stuff. God, the world is so small sometimes.

I used to befriend so many animation students in my old art school, and this just makes me so angry on their behalf!

Especially by Digipen standards...

Day 1 of PAX West on the books and I've successfully fulfilled my two personal traditions:
* grab pen from DigiPen booth
* hurt myself on a Lime e-scooter

Should be all uphill from here, knock on wood.

haha right? i think the best compliment i got what enrolling at Digipen when I was 30 and they thought I was 18 and still lived with my parents and needed a dorm room lol

Digipen is offering an online course in Game Design now, thought it couldn't hurt to try to apply, and of course I sabotaged myself by signing up at the last minute past the deadline for the season. (could have sworn it was going by PDT). It's like $10,000 a semester anyways so...
