A walker on Morven Hill near Dinnet, Aberdeenshire, found a dead Red Kite on 30 June. Morven Hill sits on Dinnet Moor, a driven grouse shoot, with predator control that campaigners have long argued crosses the line into illegality.

While military personnel are going without a paycheck and Argentina getting $40 billion of our tax dollars -- Trump and his MAGA PAC are having a $1 million-per-person candlelight dinner at Mar-a-Lago tonight.

Millions more straight into Trump's pocket.

The US president grifting by candlelight.

Trying my luck in Dinnet tonight after my disappointing Sunday catch.

Should've brought all my traps with me though, to maximise my chances. Alas I brought 3 and one has failed 🤦‍♀️

I wonder if there will still be some Mervs about 🤞

In the Vat, a spectacular rock bowl carved out by the Burn o' Vat in the Muir of Dinnet. We're nearing completion of a set of updates of all the shorter walks in the Cairngorms National Park, ready for a new edition of our local Pocket Mountains book.📖

🐉 We visited our newest Dragonfly Hotspot, Muir of Dinnet, to deliver a dragonfly ID and recording workshop for @NatureScot staff and volunteers.

We can't wait to see the new records submitted by attendees, every record helps dragonfly conservation!

A red kite has been deliberately poisoned near Dinnet.

This is a cruel, cowardly act.

Birds of prey belong in our skies. They should not be poisoned, trapped or shot by people who think the law does not apply to them.

Enough is enough.

Here's a little festive present to you all. A wintry aerial photo of New Kinord, Dinnet #Aberdeenshire showing the snow-clad stone footings of an Iron Age settlement. The remains are a mixture of roundhouses, enclosures, and a souterrain (a form of semi-underground structure, probably for storage).
