disinflationary because it might kill demand/cause a recession? or...?
Fed Gov Stephen Miran: "If you close that border and you have negative net migration - & there's been reports thus far that 1.5 million migrants have left the US just in the first half of the year -- that's gonna have a very disinflationary effect. And so I'm expecting quite a lot of disinflation."

BARCLAYS: “.. AI has been widely heralded as a disinflationary force – a technology that will bring down costs, automate work, and boost productivity. For the time being, it is leading to the opposite: higher electricity costs, higher memory prices, and upward pressure on inflation.”

THAT’S NOT HOW INFLATION WORKS!
TAXES ARE DISINFLATIONARY!
NOBODY IS PRINTING MONEY!
Can anyone on tha government side actually point these basic facts out?

Have disagreed with Stephanie on a bunch of stuff but she’s right that in 1979-2019 monetary policy had a disinflationary (and implicitly anti-full-employment) bias

Yes similarly, crashing the US Dollar and replacing it with tyrant-controlled and permanently disinflationary cryptocurrency is a key plank of The Plot to Enslave America bsky.app/profile/ther...
not convinced that "crashing the dollar via fucking with the Fed" is an entirely bad outcome to the ghouls who back the fascist project

On page 40 you can see the scenarios

- Baseline Scenario
- Disinflationary Scenario ‘Higher Potential’
- Proinflationary Scenario ‘Higher Demand’
- Risk scenario ‘Global Crisis’

Guess which one is turning out to be most likely!

I think we can ignore “Disinflationary”

Goldman on inflation: "While the effects have so far been modest, we expect the impact of tariffs to reverse progress ... we estimate [tariffs] would raise core PCE inflation from 2.7% year-over-year in May to 3.4% in December 2025 despite offsetting disinflationary pressures."

Nabiullina called the budgets of 2026-2028 “disinflationary.”

Of course she does. Because it raises taxes (VAT), she calls it disinflationary. Even though she’s going to print ~6-8 trillion rubles at the end of the year, instead of 8-10 trillion. 🙄

Stephen Miran on why he wants more interest rate cuts: "My view is that there is a number of disinflationary forces in the works that are coming into play that will be bringing inflation down in the near term. For example, lower immigration."

“.. I find it interesting when I hear that AI is deflationary/disinflationary. If you look at something like CPI software, the price level has been in a deflationary trend for decades. Yet over the past 6 months, it has clearly broken out and increased at a 59% annualized pace.”

This is obviously so wrong — both morally and factually — but even worse is that I think he really meant deflationary, not disinflationary (negative CPI instead of slowing CPI growth)

BNP PARIBAS, on Warsh:

“.. We think his argument on a disinflationary productivity boom will be met with caution .. not because it’s implausible, but mostly out of fatigue after five years of missing the inflation target and .. unfulfilled promises of ‘transitory’ inflation that would soon fade.”
