This made me spit my crisp chardonnay with notes of green apple and citrus all over my dogeared copy of the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.

Are we taking bets on if she has two copies? One original, signed copy that's in a display case, and one that's dogeared with her favorite parts highlighted?

I’m very happy to get my hands on the paperback of my book! Personally I prefer a paperback to a hardback - there’s something so thrilling about a brand-new paperback, just waiting to be carried about and get all creased and dogeared … but as yet still pristine 💚📚

While moving, my parents found a big stack of ZZAP!s in a box. They're absolutely mint - unread, and because they've literally not seen the light of day for almost four decades, their pages are brilliant shiny white and sharp-edged, not dogeared and brown. Pretty cool!

If you bring me a mint condition book to sign I will happily do it and chat with you and we'll have a very nice time. If you bring me a jacked up copy with coffee stains, water damage, and dogeared pages I will embrace you like family cause that mean that book was a companion in your life

My dad died recently and one of our shared interests was Terry Pratchett. Precisely because our books show years of shared reading they are so special. Mort has a note in the back where my dad wrote the code to my bike lock and they're the most meaningful four numbers in existence @rhi.bsky.social

Me, surreptitiously placing my dogeared copy of Alive on the coffee table: yeah, me too.

me, hiding my collection of vintage erotica: oh yeah me too

me, shoving my portrait of emperor nicholas 1 under the bed: oh yeah me too

Old enough to remember needing a cool enough older friend who could hook you up with a dogeared dot matrix printout of the Anarchist Cookbook but nostalgia is poison we should not fear the future except for the scary parts that are actually very current and present

The upside of being sick for two weeks is that I burned rubber on the novel revision. I'm nearly done.

The midlife cynic in me ("who's gonna read this, Eb?") was overruled by hopeful little Ebony who cried and cried over her dogeared paperbacks and dreamed of seeing her own story on the shelves.

I feel like the most precise generational marker among film dorks is where their dogeared copy of LYNCH ON LYNCH leaves off. (LOST HIGHWAY for me!)

Teared up multiple times as I finished The Last American Road Trip by @sarahkendzior.bsky.social - a wistful read thinking of the good I’ve experienced in this country at a time it feels so awful.
