#dolichopodid
This is in no way all of them but I pinned a TON of Dolichopodid flies. It was something like 175 Dolichs vs 25 non-Dolichs, Diptera or otherwise. The next most common family was Muscidae with around three individuals. Forgive my approximations, it’s been a minute haha.

I photographed a sequence of this little #dolichopodid fly, seemingly #airDrumming to their favorite music. My guess is, it's not jazz, not classical, more likely #metal...

Either I wore this dolichopodid out, or he became accustomed to my flash! Still just got 1 shot! http://t.co/nk3K3nzDjM

I was really proud of my coccinellid-that-turned-into-Cypherotylus but then I saw Andrea’s dolichopodid

Wildlife Group highlights yesterday for me at New England near Highley were Enoicyla pusilla, Land Caddis, a very localised critter and a top find by the vac samplers. The more common, but rather fine fly, Liancalus virens was also new for me. #ukwildlife @dipteristsforum.bsky.social

It was a cool dolichopodid from a few weeks ago.
I really like these flies, but they are always moving. It's a challenge to get decent pictures, haha.

Have a good one, y'all.

The silvery dolichopodid fly Argyra leucocephala at Higher Moors, St Mary's #Scilly 19 Sept 2023. The reflective sheen of the males makes them stand out when doing their courtship display flight in dappled shade.

3. Philonicus albiceps (Dune Robberfly), 14th July, 1991, South Gare & Coatham Sands SSSI, North East Yorks. A common robberfly of sand dunes all around the UK coasts, where it preys on a range of invertebrates (in this case a dolichopodid fly).

These small Dolichopodid flies are super. When the light catches them they look like silver flashes as they dart about over dark soil. This is Argyra; it can't be identified to species from a photo. Taken at Aqualate.

I think this is a Dolichopodid fly. They are super tiny, active, and beautiful- they are garden friends because many species are known to be predators of things like aphids. Glittering tiny gems running around on a leaf. I love seeing them. This fly family occurs worldwide, look for them on leaves!

Should be good for all who want to identifly those long-legged Dolichopodid flies.
Excellent! It's here and available to order from RES/CABI; the eagerly anticipated volume - years in the making - British Dolichopodidae. Really looking forward to having this sat on my desk. A colossal achievement by Martin.

@TanypteraGary @tanyptera hello, is Friday’s dolichopodid workshop now fully booked? Only came across it while browsing @DipteristsForum earlier

I am thrilled to have been accepted into some very cool "sciency" and "artsy" feeds. To celebrate it, I will post some photos from an exposition I was selected for in my area.
The first one is this pretty green Dolichopodid fly.
