#doubleday
Monday morning I went to DoubleDay and told them I had been sent there by sir Paul McCartney. This impressed them. They ushered me in. Where I further explain to them. That I needed a job. And I was told by Sir Paul that I could be a paperback writer.

And yet they’re seemingly not interested in playing a regular season game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.

En voyant Portia Doubleday passer dans The Social Reckoning, je me suis redemandé : pourquoi Carly Chaikin et elle n'ont pas eu plein de super propositions et rôles après la géniale série Mr. Robot, où elles étaient excellentes ?

that makes sense. The game was invented in the great lakes region, so grand tetons...

Canadian newspapers carried baseball scores for decades before doubleday 'invented' the game.

I read Jaws by Peter Benchley this summer and I was shocked to see that the 24th printing of the 50th anniversary edition contained a blatant factual error no one at Doubleday had caught in all those reprints. It concerns the movie Weekend at the Waldorf (not where my thumb is...farther down)

Busy day, lots of medieval history to process, but I've gotten sidetracked by a cheap paperback.

"Brother Petroc's Return", by "S.M.C.", is basically a time travel romance except the romance part is monastic devotion 🤔

He goes into a trance in Henry VIII's England and wakes up in the 20th century.

Benedict Arnold's heroic defense at Valcour is well known, and his conversations and actions in this story seem very true

just watched a middle aged lady psychic both track and physically apprehend a serial killer played by (i think) an uncredited frank doubleday (troll hair guy from "escape from new york"). might have landed a little better if the shadow of a shotgun mic wasn't there, too. but probably not.

Found these two at Powells in Portland. The first one is going to be good to prepare for our next Camino in 2028. The second I just can’t believe my luck. And oldie but a goodie. Anything Ruth Pike wrote was wonderful.

Yesteryear (Knopf Doubleday, 2026)
I wrote about Bernadine Bluntly, a tradwife who lived with her husband and six children in an off-grid tiny home until last year, when she snuck down the gravel path to the highway, called the police, and got a restraining order. Now she's an ex-trad infuencer: www.nytimes.com/2026/09/24/s...
Bernadine Bluntly’s Brand Was Tradwife. Then She Got Divorced.
What happens when a trad influencer leaves her husband, questions her beliefs, stops selling anti-feminism T-shirts — and still needs to make a living online?

The 19th century marked the inception of professional baseball, a time when the sport began to take shape and establish its identity. Among the early pioneers, players like Abner Doubleday, who is often mistakenly credited with inventing baseball, played a crucial role in popularizing the game. How

The strangest current trend in GenAI spam emails is fake solicitations from “publishers” offering to publish my already published books. The spam isn't even aware of the illogic. In the last week I've gotten fake offers from Doubleday, Bloomsbury, and Penguin Random House.
