...the plot is to have a focus through these often dim & dreich days, so have tidied very out of date festive spices & mulled wine flavourings from cupboards & plan to send them to the dyepot from Martinmas to Candlemas in order to have something bright & invigorating to explore!

🧶 Pulling skeins of ivy berry botanically dyed wool from the dyepot & marvelling at their many colour changes - plum purple in the pot, odd lavender when fresh wrung, blue greys when washed & wet, & finally sea green teal when full dry - wild colours do have their own magic...

Attempting a new dye technique so as to make fancy fox adorned hankies & be less wasteful in not using throwaway ones - so soya mordanted cotton with a rust water painted fox, & the hope is that the fox will dye a darker shade to the rest of the fabric - on to the natural dyepot!

During last week's Open Studio, a visitor offered me some black walnuts & delivered a couple of big buckets full the next day. What riches! Today there's wool yarn in the dyepot with the chocolatey liquid from the husks. It will be even darker when it's done. I'll use the nuts for banana bread.
