Thulusdhoo, Maldives. Sunset Golden Hour at the beach. Opposite side from the setting sun, showing the Earth’s Shadow. People sitting on the breakwater near the jetty watching the glow in the sky. The lagoon is light blue with the sky a pinkish orange.

Thulusdhoo, Maldives. Sunset Golden Hour at Fisherman’s Jetty. The Earth’s Shadow is cast across the setting sun from the opposite side. A small boat or launch is in the foreground, and the beach is saturated with seaweed. Looking across the beach, you can see a rocky outcrop and some coconut trees at the shore. In the background, a small barge sits. The entire frame is a cacophony of colors. From the reddish tints of sunlight on the beach to the green of the seaweeds, to the blues and turquoise of the lagoon, to the purples, pinks, blues, golds, and yellows of the sky.

Hulhumalé, Maldives. Sunset Golden Hour Earth’s Shadow from my balcony. In the foreground is the shoreline coconut trees with the white sand of the shore showing through them. The lagoon is turquoise with the dark shallow corals showing beneath the crystal clear water. The sea beyond the reef is purplish in color till the horizon. Right above it is a thin horizontal band of blue sky. Above it is another bit larger band of sky that’s purplish fading to a light yellow. And above that the sky intensifies from very light blue to sky blue.

Thulusdhoo, Maldives. The golden hour of sunset paints the sky with hues of orange and pink. From the old jetty, I gaze towards the opposite side, where the Earth’s Shadow meets the setting sun. The calm lagoon lies in the foreground, while the sky is almost completely covered in storm clouds, leaving only a thin, horizontal band of clear air around the horizon. At the far right of the frame, a luxury yacht anchors at the perfect spot to witness the beauty of nature.

Thulusdhoo, Maldives. Sunset Golden Hour at the opposite looking at the Earth’s Shadow. Lagoon in the foreground is blue to light turquoise. From the left of the frame is the shoreline of the island with some coconut trees and some construction by the tide retention wall. Next to the wall in mid frame is a small cargo shipwreck near the shore. Beyond that in the back ground is the Fishermen’s Jetty with locals & guests gathering to view and record the sunset. Beyond that is the reef and the darker blue of the sea. The sky is very light orange with patches of very light purple.

Tonight's beautiful #crescentmoon is hanging low in the western sky and seems to be waiting to catch Venus if she happens to fall from the sky.
