Eastern Diamond-backed Rattlesnake, Crotalus adamanteus. This was a nice individual around 5 feet long. The record length is 8 feet 3 inches, but individuals over 6 feet are quite rare in our increasingly developed world.

Eastern Diamondbacks are huge, thick-bodied snakes with beautiful, intricate patterns that provide excellent camouflage. They are declining throughout their range and it's a privilege to see one.
