Good ride despite my brain doing weird stuff. Hit 700 miles, saw some cool signs, and enjoyed the leaves.

USB-C PD EPR would be a good standard for charging ebike batteries, except for the fact it tops out at 48V. A 48V nominal ebike battery tops out at 54V. So, without an extra boost converter involved, you'd be sadly restricted to only 36V nominal batteries for now.

💯 When I bike to circus class (7 miles each way) I absolutely would be driving if I didn’t have my ebike.
The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%.

E-bikes support fewer car trips.

eBikes are cool, and anyone who claims that ebikes are somehow "cheating" are simply jealous. On my commute, there's a mile-long climb of mainly a steady 11%, and I know...

First lesson learned, commuting with the new ebike: left my office and walked all the way to the bike cage before realizing the battery is sitting on my desk.

If you wanted to kill ebike uptake, this is a really good way to do it.
Since early 2026, the law has required electric bike owners to get licenses—and in some cases, insurance—to ride. It has left many stranded and confused.
