If there’s one thing that British politicians can universally agree on other than torturing refugees, it’s that having sex with the lights on is a Continental eccentricity.

I totally love stuff like this btw. Harmless, delightful eccentricity.

At some point prequels revisionism went from a harmless, generationally-specific eccentricity and turned into Q-posting
This is objectively, verifiably untrue.

Robert Wyatt | Grass | | 1981

Ivor Cutler and Wyatt are very idiosyncratic musicians but sit squarely in the tradition of British eccentricity

200% agree.

I go hard on the British, but there IS something to be said of old school English eccentricity, where rich elites just dress up like the Phantom of the Opera and have 20 dogs and a servant for each dog.

Rich people need to just do that kind of thing again.
we need to return to the old ways of private, harmless madness (shed containing miniature trains, communing with fairies, commissioning lingerie for the statues of yourself you keep behind the throne room). not whatever this is. not driving your bad car into the bad car showroom.

Is the eccentricity spontaneous?

I only discovered this gem myself a few months ago and love it. It has a certain delightful eccentricity about it.

I applaud his eccentricity but it’s awful 😅

Woke this morning actually smiling out of dreaming
about vagaries of
idiosyncratic
British domestic life.
Dreaming, plus 6 years as a child here + decades later marriage and return, equals
an affectionate piss taking.
There's nothing mean about
my family, friends who swim
in a warm
eccentricity.

at least the random good stat man has awesome hair and leans more into eccentricity than anything else
in terms of random good stat men you can do a lot worse

Being cishet and weird must really be a curse.

If you’re queer it can just be your reasoning for any eccentricity. What excuse do cishet people have for whimsy and oddness?

As there is vocal eccentricity involved, probably more like Mattie McGrath

100%

I kinda wonder if age factored into it at all. Like, he got to a point where he just didn't care anymore and decided to phone everything on and get by on former work and "eccentricity"

On occasion, one can be helpful on the internet (I jumped in to comment like a kid on Christmas morning)

"Aw man I really made the whole 'it used to just be eccentricity' thing into part of my militant autism-"

My afternoon escapism is “On Pedantry” by A. Visser. The social hazards of “knowing,” especially now, make for an interesting triangle of eccentricity, intellectual curiosity, & pedantry.

Anyway, it’s 2500 years of history, cautions, & consequences of deciding where the line gets drawn. #amreading

Ooooft, look at this double neutron star system! 🔵---🔵

The eccentricity of these orbits is wild!

One is a "millisecond pulsar" (though it is not really "milli" by my definition).

This will be a neat system to study for a lot of science!

I'd probably go Hysteria but yeah Time Is Running Out is fantastic - perfect mix of paranoia, eccentricity and riffage.

Always thought, as a side point, Muse would be a *great* eurovision band. Right levels of camp.
