The 1% student loan interest reduction for enrolling in autopay by Sept 30th is a sham.

Me: 2 months for EdFinancial to process payment plan change, still haven't processed my autopay request.

Husband: 3 months and Mohela has not processed the payment plan change request, can't enroll in autopay.

@elizabeth-warren.bsky.social I CANNOT reach EdFinancial Services!

Everytime I’ve called EdFinancial Services in the last month, the call is DROPPED AFTER 2 HOURS ON HOLD!

What are we supposed to do?? They also screwed up my PSLF count!

What is happening?!

Back in June I started making income-based student loan payments again. I set up autopay through edfinancial so that the full amount of my payment would be withdrawn each month. Website told me my first autopay would be withdrawn July 26th. Cool. July 30th I get an email that my payment is past due.

Me: Does recertification for the payment options so the DOE doesn't try to demand money I don't have.
Recertification payment calculator: Nothing's changed from last time so it should stay the same
Me: Okay.
Edfinancial: You are paying us NOTHING for the next year, goodbye
Me: ???

Has anyone else received a deadline from edfinancial? Is this legit?

Nelnet, Aidvantage, MOHELA, and EdFinancial reported delays and billing errors from unclear Department of Education instructions for student-loan program changes.

EdFinancial is pretending I didn't make 2 years of payments & I have to send them 2 years of banking records to prove I did & I was thinking: what if more companies started doing this? Like, Wells Fargo: "prove to us you made your mortgage payment for last 2 years oh, & our records don't count."

I've been assured by customer service at #EdFinancial that you can ignore the site when it says your payment is late.
But it's greedy #EdFinancial, so you probably should contact them. I'm pretty sure they will lie. Pay off your student loans, y'all. They're soaking us.
December 23, 2025 at 2:43 PM
So #EdFinancial has a bug in its site. It's possible that on some days the AutoPay won't go through and the site will contain a warning that you are late on your payment and to pay immediately.

Biden's SAVE plan only applied to Direct Loans from the Federal Gov (the U.S. Department of Education) ...and only after 20yrs of payments. No bank involved who might be damaged by non-payments. No big knock-on impact.
