Today's text is from a writer whose memoir I edited. The text included a copy of their cover design. It's fabulous – exactly right for the book.

I don't know who's more excited: the writer or the editor!
I'm so happy for them. It's almost done!

The author-editor dilemma:

Do I start on my next chapter of my fan novel?

Or do I start my workday with my line edits?

Decision paralysis incoming😅🩵

If you’d like an editor who’s just as passionate about writing as you, I’d love to chat!!

"Toni Morrison loved being an editor. She fought for her writers and with them when necessary....She cajoled, she praised, she made better, she got her hands covered with ink and buried deep in the words." #booksky #editorsandediting

I finished beta reading a contemporary romance manuscript and sent the reader's report to the writer today. I am waiting for the writer's response and any possible questions they might have.

Editing No New Ideas by art historian Matthew Israel and had cause to take a moment with the Graces, mirth, elegance & beauty. Glad mirth has a place within grace. #editorsandediting

Squeezing in one more book edit before year's end is either stupid or stupid. I haven't decided which yet.

In the meantime, I'm five days behind.

Why did I agree to this? Oh, yeah. Because I don't like living in my car or eating cat food.

One more edit = one more invoice

I once spent days undoing the formatting that a previous editor (PE) had inserted into a client's WIP. PE had decided that formatting was more important than editing, and the manuscript was a mess. (So was the formatting.)

I spent last week doing a quarterly review for my editing business. I analysed the progress I made for my goals and projects and set new projects that will bring me closer to my goals. I use a notebook, a planner and Todoist.
